Chateau de Montpezat is a magical, serene wedding venue sitting on the edge of the river Garonne and at the foothills of the Pyrenees mountains. This refined white chateau, with its graceful turrets and 45 hectares of forest, is located in one of the most gorgeous areas of South of France.

Chateau de Montpezat is just 45 minutes from Toulouse airport, in a region famous for its wines and lip-smacking gastronomy. Its architecture dates back to the 16th century and is similar to the Loire Valley chateaux. The domaine has been perfectly renovated to become an incredible setting for weddings.

The first surprise when you arrive at the venue, is its location… the entrance to the chateau is at the centre of a small lovely village; but when you open the chateau gates you will discover a vast oasis of vegetation, offering complete privacy from the outside. Here you will hear bird chatter all around, as well as the river Garonne gently flowing by.

During the time of your stay, the chateau will be yours entirely, which means that you’ll be able to enjoy all the varied spaces of the venue, from the large living areas to the impressive outdoor spaces.

For your wedding ceremony/blessing, pick your favourite spot in the 45 hectare park, for instance under the majestic walnut trees or in front of the chateau. There is also a catholic church in walking distance.

The wedding dinner will be held in the farmhouse or in its courtyard. With fairy lights all around, this will become a picture perfect place for a boho chic wedding celebration.

On the day after, the pool area, surrounded by a vast orchard, will welcome you for a relax brunch or bbq.

In terms of accommodation, the chateau sleeps up to 22 people in 7 gorgeous historical suites and a farmhouse, only 100m away from the chateau. We love the decoration of the interiors, which is very respectful to the chateau. Amongst the beautiful antique furniture there is on display some superb contemporary art, making the place both homely and stylish.

We also particularly like the “Cathedral room” with its incredible 15-foot high ceilings, modern design and views of the river.

Finally the lovely wedding coordinator of the venue will be by your side to provide her best suppliers and make sure your wedding is just as you dreamt it. Plus she will be able to help you organise outdoor activities – such as paragliding, hot air balloon rides… – or unforgettable culinary day trips, including some Armagnac tours! It is also possible to do wine and cheese tasting in the cellar of the chateau.

Icing on the cake, since 2021, Chef Romuald joined the team, which means the Chateau is now in a position to offer full board, hassle free, wedding week-ends. Incredible menus are available for all types of meals during your stay.

To summarise, we think that Chateau de Montpezat would suit very well couples who would like a chic, yet characterful and relaxed wedding venue in South West France.

Things to do in the area: Besides going out on nice walks, fishing and hunting which are possible on the property, you’ll find countless sport options nearby, from golf (the nearest golf course is 5 minutes away) to horseback riding and canoeing to name a few. Visit the chateaux Cathares nearby and don’t miss a visit to Toulouse the beautiful “Pink city”!

We were completely blown away by this place. We visited it first and it set the bar very high. The normal location of the ceremony is in front of the Chateau under the tree, which is just the perfect fairy tale backdrop. The river that runs alongside the Chateau is stunning and can be seen from the balconies of the rooms at the back of the chateau. Inside the rooms are strikingly large – very impressive. The Courtyard and barn area where you can have dinner is beautiful and the toilets that are next to it are clean and modern. The additional accommodation in the barn is modern, but sensitively restored and we really liked it. There were a couple of real selling points for us: 1. 45 minutes from the airport and a very easy drive along the motorway 2. Angie – she is just wonderful - French and English speaking, it was so easy to communicate with her and I have absolute confidence that organising a wedding with her as the facilitator will be as easy as it can be 3. Art – the Chateau is full of interesting pieces of art, there are also sculptures throughout the venue and a lot of portraits, drawings etc., and finally 4. the flexibility with what we can do there is huge – they are so relaxed and there is no ‘one size fits all’ approach – nothing is impossible.

Our wedding was everything we imagine it to be…and more! We cannot thank the team at the Chateau enough for what they did to assist us with making our day so special. Not only that, if you are looking for a wedding that really shows off the best of France, this is the place to do it! We can't wait to go back there again in the future!
