Recollecting a dream French wedding in a splendid South of France chateau
We love reliving the stories from couples who chose Chateau Bee venues at the start of their wedding journey. So we were delighted to hear feedback from the wedding of London couple, Edward and Sevilay. Their special day took place on the 29th September 2018 in Chateau Occitania, a stunning French chateau located near Beziers, in Languedoc-Roussillon.
The wedding day is recollected by their talented wedding planner Clémentine Ward and beautifully presented by the photos of her husband Mark. The pair make up the Awardweddings team, based in South of France.
Here Clémentine looks back on the wedding journey…
The perfect venue
Edward and Sevilay found their venue, Chateau Occitania, on the Chateau Bee Selection back in January 2018. They chose an incredibly beautiful property, complete with gites to accommodate all their friends and family within the grounds of the chateau. This meant they could spend a glorious few days altogether around the wedding date.
The vast size of the venue enabled the bride and groom to get ready in different buildings, separated by a meadow. In doing so they were able to celebrate their entire day on site and make the most of their location.
The wedding
The festivities started with a personal, symbolic ceremony in the gardens. It was a beautiful setting under the impressive oak tree, all to the sound of classical strings.
Afterwards, the couple invited their guests to enjoy cocktails and canapés by the pool. The party followed with a delicious French three-course meal on the Orangerie terrace. Then they continued the festivities into the night at the Orangerie.
“It was a beautiful setting: under the impressive oak tree, all to the sound of classical strings.”
The wedding styling
With such incredible settings, the styling only needed to complement the existing natural beauty. The couple chose an elegant and understated colour scheme, with pastel blue, cream and coral flowers, as well as foliage and candles. This all blended in well with the outdoor wedding they had chosen.
Their wedding ceremony was celebrated under the large oak tree, with a branch creating a natural arch. They also had a floral curtain with pale blue, coral and cream flowers.
The cocktail reception was set-up on the pool terrace, which overlooked the chateau and garden. Splendid flower arrangements decorated the buffets and poseur tables. This led to a lovely and airy atmosphere.
The dinner was served on a long row of rectangular tables on the Orangerie terrace. The tables were decorated with a central trail of greenery and a lot of mixed size church candles. They also had festoon garlands above their heads for a candlelit evening dinner.
It was a warm and beautiful day in the South of France. The couple celebrated their love surrounded by their nearest and dearest in amazing surroundings.
