The Monastery is a magical South of France wedding venue, a tranquil world of its own combining Provençal charm and elegance. It is also a work of passion, as its current owners renovated it completely and returned it to its former splendour, whilst adding their own personal touches.
Located next to Moustiers-Ste-Marie, one of the most beautiful villages of France, the Monastery is surrounded by nature.
At the top of the hill you will find a path into the forest, leading you to Harry Potter-esque gates. Enter through and discover the domain: the chapel, the 19th century monastery, its courtyard, many gardens and a swimming pool.
At the monastery, each wedding is considered truly unique and the bubbly owners will endeavour to turn your dream day into reality.
Whether big or small there will be many possibilities for you to organise your wedding.
For the ceremony, you could choose the wonderful chapel with high ceiling and grand piano. Another option is the natural amphitheatre in the garden which would be a magical setting for a blessing.
Then head into the courtyard of the monastery, an absolutely delightful space with a mosaic-pebbled floor and a fountain in its center.
For the wedding meal, here again you’ll be spoiled with choice: the chapel can sit up to 130 people; alternatively you could make the most of the outside by setting up tables and chairs in front of the monastery. There is also a large, beautiful room indoors that can host up to 70 people on large, rectangular wooden tables.
Finally the domain can sleep up to 80 people.
This venue is hugely popular so make sure you book it a long time in advance.
It is to be noted that the owner can arrange a shuttle transfer for you and your guests from the airport to the Monastery. If you wish, there is also a service of in-house catering for the meals other than the wedding dinner.
Things to do in the area: Moustiers-Ste-Marie (6km) famous for its ceramic, the superb turquoise Lake Ste Croix and the charming village of Bauduen, hiking, canoeing in the spectacular Gorges du Verdon…
Despite being in Provence, this part is unspoilt by tourism and a real hidden gem. Discover more about this beautiful region of South of France by checking our blog post here.
