What we liked during our visit at Chateau du Val, beside its very elegant façade, was the flexibility to create a bespoke event. Indeed the owner is not only adorable but also flexible and open to new ideas. Furthermore, she is English herself, and with her list of recommended partners helps couples organise the whole event.
For the ceremony you can choose your favorite spot in the large and magical park of the chateau. The stone Pavilion building also gives a covered option. Pre-wedding cocktails and canapés are typically served in the chateau’s front gardens and on the terrace, while the wedding dinner can take place in the elegant salons or a summery marquee.
After dinner the guests can appreciate the Chateau and other buildings lit up at night, the after party continuing in the Pavilion and overflowing onto the cobbled courtyard. The evening can then finish with a late night snack at magnificent fire work display.
The more informal Lodge area allows guests to relax on the sofas and enjoy a drink or make a coffee as and when they wish. Couples sometimes choose to arrive a few days early, and make the most of the self-catering facilities of the Lodge.
The wedding dinner will be prepared by the chateau’s in house chefs who can also offer simpler meals around the wedding day such as BBQ’s, brunches, buffets or a Brittany crêpe and pancake event with local cider from 25€.
On the grounds guests have full use of the 15m pool and tennis court, as well as the possibility to walk the trails in the private forest.
Finally, although Chateau du Val is set in the Brittany countryside, there is plenty of nearby accommodation .
