Set within more than 500 hectares of protected countryside, Chateau des Forêts is a hidden gem of a wedding venue in the Charente, close to the Dordogne and within easy reach of Bordeaux. Surrounded by forests, ponds and open landscapes, the Chateau sits beautifully within its natural environment, overlooking an eight-hectare lake and land shared with roe deer, wild boar, hares, ducks and pheasants.
How your wedding day unfolds at Chateau des Forêts
Your wedding weekend begins on the eve of the wedding, as guests make their way along the forest drive and gradually catch their first glimpse of the Chateau. Once everyone has settled into the estate’s accommodation, gather your guests for an informal dinner in the courtyard, perhaps with a food truck.
On the day itself, exchange your vows beneath the fruit trees in the orchard, surrounded by nature and the quiet beauty of the estate. Afterwards, invite guests to gather for cocktails on the terrace, within the park or beside the lake, as the changing light reflects across the water.
Dinner takes place outdoors beneath fairy lights or inside the Chateau’s recently renovated 130 m² reception room, which seats up to 95 guests. Combining historic character with modern comfort, the room is equipped with tables and chairs, an adjoining catering space, heating, air conditioning, a projector and screen, and wheelchair-accessible facilities.
When it is time to dance, the celebrations can move into the characterful Harvesters’ Room. Its adjoining lounge also gives guests a quieter place to sit and talk, allowing everyone to enjoy the evening at their own pace.
The following day, gather again around the outdoor pool and bar for a leisurely brunch.
Accommodation and facilities at Chateau des Forêts
Accommodation is available for up to 27 guests across five rooms within the Chateau and a separate six-bedroom gite. Guests staying in the Chateau also have access to an indoor pool and sauna, while the gite has its own outdoor pool. This allows close family and friends to remain at the heart of the estate and experience it as their home for the weekend.
