Chateau Severin, nestled in the beautiful region of Dordogne, offers the perfect setting for a relaxed, romantic wedding. We love the homely and cosy feel of the venue, as well as the French country style decoration.
The lovely English owners, Sarah and Rupert, themselves tied the knot in a Dordogne chateau. This sparked their dream to find their own chateau in France and make it perfect for couples from all over the world.
This 19th century French castle is sympathetically restored throughout and still retains many of its original features.
We very much like the quirky bamboo forest that will welcome you once you pass the large gates. Also worth mentioning is the “Chapel”, a vast room with large beams that can sit up to 100 people for a wedding blessing. If you prefer, there are Catholic and Protestant churches nearby.
As an alternative you could have the ceremony outdoors in the Chateau’s verdant park: you’ll just need to pick your favourite spot amongst 10 acres of land!
This venue is well suited to small-medium size weddings. For less than 30 guests, you could have the wedding dinner inside, in one the salons. For 30-100 guests, a marquee in the park (provided by the venue) will be the place for your wedding guests to dine and party into the night. If the weather is nice, you will be able to open up the sides of the marquee, which will allow you to make the most of the outside space.
On the day after, invite your guests back to enjoy a brunch, stacked with local dishes from the Dordogne region. Then you can relax down at the large, secluded pool. If you are as lucky as us, you might even spot some cute red squirrels hopping by!
In terms of accommodation, the domaine can sleep up to 27 people in 7 rooms in the chateau and 5 rooms in the gatehouse. The rooms, all bright and large, offer an understated, country chic decoration.
There is an additional property available to rent within the grounds, a 3/4 bedroom house sleeping a total of up to 8 guests. Along with this property comes a beautiful large partially covered courtyard that would make the perfect space for a dinner and drinks the night before your Wedding.
Finally, the owners are very helpful. Plus thanks to their own experience, understand what couples go through when organising their wedding in France from abroad. Therefore they will be by your side to provide reliable suppliers. If you wish, Sarah could also help you plan every detail of your wedding (at an extra fee).
All in all, we think this chateau would perfectly suit a couple that wants to get married in a chateau with a “family home” feel. The possibility to enjoy the grounds for 3-4 days or more with friends and family will make your wedding in France truly memorable.
