Located only 22km from the UNESCO World Heritage site of Saint-Emilion, Chateau Destinée sits blissfully on the banks of the Dordogne, surrounded by a 3-hectare park and river views. The atmosphere feels peaceful and exclusive, whilst being easy to reach from Bordeaux and Bergerac airports. Plus the estate boasts accommodation for up to 60 people and offers the ease of an in-house wedding planning team and on-site catering.
Your wedding experience at Chateau Destinée
On the morning of your wedding, imagine you and your wedding party getting ready in the light-filled penthouse apartment and the Penthouse Suite. From here you can see the preparation going on for your beautiful wedding.
Your ceremony can be held in a variety of settings throughout the grounds, whether beside the water feature in the park, by the romantic wisteria arbor, on the river terrace, or in another space that feels right for your celebration.
Afterwards, drinks, canapés, and gathering moments can flow naturally through the château and its outdoor spaces, from the front of the château and its stone steps to the terraces, gardens, and reception rooms. For dining and evening celebrations, couples can choose the setting that best suits their guest numbers, style, and season, including the Orangerie with its floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the courtyard and river terrace or the Barn with fairy lights on the walls.
The following day, the celebration can continue in whatever way feels most relaxed and personal, whether that means time by the pool, a casual barbecue, a food truck-style gathering, or simply enjoying the grounds together and reliving the memories of the weekend.
On site accommodation and transport access at this Dordogne wedding venue
The first and second floors of Chateau Destinée include a river-view penthouse apartment, luxury suites and self-contained apartments. Taken together, they sleep up to 60 guests on site.
In terms of access, the property is around 20 minutes from Saint-Emilion, just over an hour from Bordeaux and its airport, and approximately 45 minutes from Bergerac airport – making arrivals straightforward for guests travelling from abroad.
It is also worth noting that this venue can host weddings all year round.
Our review of Chateau Destinée
What stands out is the variety of spaces, allowing each stage of the wedding weekend to feel distinct without leaving the estate.
Another key strength is the in-house team. From bespoke wedding planning to catering, they manage the welcome dinner, wedding meal, next-day BBQ and more! Owner Linda can even act as celebrant if desired.
Finally we appreciate how this venue has been thoughtfully designed with inclusivity in mind. Indeed the chateau offers rare accessibility features for a private venue – including a wheelchair lift, an accessible bedroom, and a disabled-friendly public toilet. With nine ground-floor bedrooms in total (including the accessible one), there’s real flexibility to ensure every guest can feel comfortable and fully part of the celebration.
To summarise, for couples dreaming of a riverside wedding venue in the South of France, with generous on-site accommodation, a dedicated team, and tailored packages, Chateau Destinée is a fantastic option we are delighted to recommend.
Green credentials: Chateau Destinée does not use plastic bottled still water and strongly suggests silk flowers. They have a garbage tariff to reduce disposable guest favours etc. Chefs have their own herb/vegetable garden. They own 2 electric vehicles.
