Chateau du Grand Val is a gem of a chateau, a pristine wedding venue surrounded by rolling hills, located near the fortified village of Combourg and a short drive away from Brittany beaches.
The domaine, sitting at the top of a hill, is like its own little island, with lush vegetation framing beautiful buildings: the 15th century chateau, as well as three typical Brittany style cottages that you’ll be able to privatise entirely for your event.
Now let’s transport ourselves to your wedding day there…
Wake up at the Chateau and enjoy a glass of bubbly with your bridesmaids/best men on the sunny front terrace.
The magnificent 65 acres park will be a perfect setting for your ceremony and reception drinks. Its blossoming hydrangeas, river, ponds and stunning views all across the valley mean your guests will have many opportunities to explore and marvel at the venue. You and your groom/bride could also use the two rowing boats on the pond for a romantic photoshoot!
Let’s add, too, that there is a chapel on the grounds that can sit up to 50 people or 75 people standing.
For the wedding dinner, this will take place in the characterful reception hall, an 18th century cider house with oak beams and crystal chandeliers. This space can sit up to 75 people. If you have more guests, the owners will be able to put up a beautiful marquee (at an extra cost) that will allow you to accommodate 125 people.
On the day after, the festivities will continue with a brunch or BBQ before heading down to the pool to relax. The owners can also help you source a vintage food truck, serving delicious crepes & galettes.
Finally the domaine can sleep up to 35 people on site, with 7 spacious rooms in the chateau, and 8 rooms in the 3 self catering stone cottages. All the buildings have been carefully renovated whist keeping their stunning original features such as beautiful fire places and refined paintings.
There is also plenty of accommodation nearby in particular in the medieval French town of Combourg, just 3 km away.
Finally the owners speak English fluently and have been hosting weddings for 14 years now. If you wish, they will be able to help plan your big day, making sure your dream wedding in France becomes reality.
Things to do in the area : you will find in the local town all the amenities you need from French restaurants and “crêperies” to supermarkets and bakeries. Only 30 km away you’ll be able to swim in some of Brittany’s finest beaches. Don’t miss exploring the medieval town of Dinan and the buzzing walled city of St Malo. Cancale and its famous oysters is also nearby. The chateau is ideally located too to discover Normandy, for instance Mont St Michel. Apart from good food, excellent wines, culture and swimming, there are also seven golf courses nearby. The closest is Golf des Ormes and Golf de St Malo/Le Tronchet, which are just 15 minutes by car from the chateau.
